I'd like to see more options, possible romance and basically more of everything because the foundation for a great game is here, just right now it needs some more work to push it in the right direction, in some instances I get reminded of playing games like Ragnarok Online and early cute MMO's, the gameplay style sometimes feels similar. The artwork and graphical style are all above par, cute graphics reminiscent of some early JRPGs and passable music that does get a little repetitive after a while, game has good day and night cycles with weather effects such as rain which can basically automatically water your crops. Several key issues are all related to how slow everything is to get around with a huge lack of rapid travel options being the major culprit which feels like this wandering around just pads out the gameplay too much and distracts from any fun to be had, for a indie title I'd say this is an excellent attempt but needs more work and resolving several key issues which hold it back, don't be put off by the negative reviews and play the demo! If you like the harvest moon and rune factory series and don't mind a bit of a slow paced game then this is ideal for you. Hosted by 44 Bytes.Very grindy Pro's Cute graphics and artstyle Endearing characters Simple combat Con's Slow paced and feels boring at times Very grindy Lacking focus, is this a farming game or a dungeon crawler? Equipment upgrades are super expensive! Some bosses are very overpowered Often frustrating Terrible side quest triggering system Poor targeting system Players can be stunlocked by monsters too often Needs lots of QOL improvements Endgame is very underwhelming Iffy monster collision detection Buggy Welcome to Kitaria Fables, the land of grinding for hours without really progressing much at all, whilst this game isn't bad at all, it suffers from being very slow paced through to downright boring in areas. © 2022 Hookshot Media, partner of ReedPop. PS4 to PS5: All Games with Confirmed Free Upgrades New PS5, PS4 Games This Week (24th October to 31st October) Despite the fighting, this can be a really peaceful and relaxing game - especially when you hunker down on your farm to grow fruit and vegetables in between expeditions. Responsive controls, paired with a simple but effective battle system - which features a lot of dodge rolling - results in one moreish excursion after another. So it's back to the blacksmith in order to work out what materials are needed for a shiny new sword, sturdy bow, or chunky armour set.įortunately, Kitaria Fables is an addictive adventure. You'll often hit roadblocks during the main story or a side quest, where you're tasked with delving into a dungeon that's just too difficult for you to handle. Needless to say, Kitaria Fables is a grindy game. Having more effective gear lets you take on increasingly dangerous monsters, and so the cycle continues until the credits roll (and beyond, if you feel like it). Exploration leads to finding new materials, and new materials means crafting better equipment. There is a story here - one that involves an empire, the outlawing of magic spells, and a growing darkness - but it's not really the focus, even if it gives you a good reason to get out and explore the game's segmented regions. It takes place in a world inhabited by anthropomorphic characters, and the whole thing would be incredibly cosy if it wasn't for the fact that monsters roam the countryside. Kitaria Fables is a charming action RPG with an emphasis on crafting of all kinds.
